The cactus shown on the photo was repotted two days ago.
I posted this one on 8th August and asked someone to give the identification. I got several comments but all of them were different.
I have still not been sure the name of species.

Sorry Frank!
I was thinking it should be a Ferocactus.
I have about 20 species of Ferocactus, but none of it seems to have the radial spines like in your picture.
I will keep looking..... :(

Hi Frank!
I rechecked again, I think K.W. was right about Ferocactus cylindraceus subs. eastwoodiae. :thumbright:
One of the variation of the sub-species matched your picture which have curved central spines, not hooked spines, and with white radial spines.
I only have the Ferocactus cylindraceus, not the sub-species.

G'morning Bryan,

Thank you very much for your information.
I have understood the cactus is a Ferocactus cylindraceus subs eastwoodiae.

Seedlings of Pelecyphora aselliformis were repotted in this morning.
They were in a wet-box long time but I took out them 2 months ago. They are very thin.
The followings are my experience of this species.

1. The success rate of seed germination is high with the temperature 25~30 'C.
2. Seedlings are very thin and grow very slowly.
3. To make a fat body, you can graft seedlings and degraft later.
4. Pereskiopsis stock can not make a fat body of scion. You can select any other permanent stocks.
5. Rooting of aselliformis is not difficult.

I had kept some seedlings without grafting to see the result.

Photo 1: Seedling in a pot, never repotted after the germination.
Photo 2: 21 seedlings were selected for the repotting.
photo 3: Repotted seedlings in 5 cm square tubes.

6 pelecyphora aselliformis in 6.5 mm square pots were repotted.
They all are rooted off-sets and moved into 8.5 cm square pots.

Photo 1: Before removed from old pots
Photo 2: Removed from old pots, rooting worked well and I could see some thick roots.
Photo 3: After repotted into 8.5 cm square pots

Hi Frank.
You posted on 16-Jul about at Astrophytum hybrid hakujo fukuryu banjyaku that turns yellow, does it recover to normal colour?
I had one Astrophytum asterias about the same, which turned very yellow during winter. It shrunk quite a bit, and a bit soft to touch, but not like normal rot problem, so today I decided to pull it out and cut it open. The roots look normal, just a bit dried (no water for about 4 months), but the body just an empty shell, it's like it dried from inside.

No it does not.
The cactus died due to rotting.

Sorry to hear that!
Unfortunately, not all plants will survive.

Two cacti species were in flower yesterday afternoon.

Photo 1: Pelecyphora strobilliformis
It is a degrafted/rooted one, own-root.

Photo 2: Uebelmannia pectinifera
Since an other pectinifera also was in flower, I pollinated them.
