I have a seedling from mixed seed which looks like exactly myriostigma but the edge of the ribs have the white felt all the way down them. Similar to your last picture. But your plant looks like it has capricorne or ornatum in it (??) What should I call it? A hybrid or what? I will take a picture if you like.

My cactus on the photo is hakujo fukuryu banjyaku.
hakujo: white strips
fukuryu: multipul bumps
banjyaku: a hybrid of ornatum x myriostigma

There are no forms of myriostigma with white strips but there is a form of ornatum which is called hakujo hannya.
Your seedling looks like exactly myriostigma is mixed the gene of ornatum.

Your seedling should be a hybrid, hakujo banjyaku

Three degrafted turbinicarpus alonsoies were in flower. They are not small because of grafted once, 15~12 cm in diameter.

An ariocarpus bravoanus v hintonii was in flower yesterday. It seems flowering of Ariocarpus are around 2 weeks later than last year.

Hi Frank,
I was wondering how the weather patterns for the last 6 months affects the flowering.
I noticed some plants didn't have any flower this year.
Even the Trichocereus, plenty of flowers each year, but not this year.
The Ferocactus herrerae flower buds still developing, but last few years always started to flower from mid-summer.
Also, I noticed some Astrophytum species flowers, been very good last few months, but this week, quite a few flowers opened without pollen.
Anyway, the milder temperature seems to suite some of other plants like Hoyas and Ceropegias. Even the orchids, most of the time will be finished flowering by mid-summer, still have a few flowers last week.

I was wondering how the weather patterns for the last 6 months affects the flowering.

I have many matured asterias. Many of them were not flower in this season. I think weather affected the flowering.

I bought seed and sowed on 31st October 2003 and so the cactus is 19 years old.

The cactus on your photo is an Astrophytum hybrid, hakujo fukuryu banjyaku.
I think the gene of fukuryu is mixed slighty in the cactus.
