I also could not see any cacti flowers in this morning.
The photo is 11 years old Ariocarpus. I wanted to put the character of cauliflower over long tubercles of Shinkawa Tama Zouge.
The cactus is a Shinkawa Tama zouge x cauliflower. I can see some roughness over tubercles but it is not significant.

A copiapoa esmeraldana was in flower yesterday. I bought a small plant in 2003. It was unhealthy and I could not see any flowers for last 10 years.
It is 1st of March today and the 1st day of autumn in here.

Grafted ariocarpus form many off-sets. Some of off-sets are formed on bottom of scions. I remove them before degrafting scions because they will be buried in potting-mix if they were remained.

I keep removed off-sets and root them. The rooting of ariocarpus off-sets in spring is not difficult.

The photo is rooted off-sets of Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus cv Daruma Seiji which are 8.5 cm square pots.
I hope some of them were in flower in this autumn.

When you propagate Ariocarpus from seed, you experience various unexpected issues until they reach to the flowering age. These issues cause the interruption of Ariocarpus growing or losing plants.
Because of the above reason, The time of seed to flower becomes long.

Two species introduced in here experienced no special issues during growing and almost reach to the flowering age.
Seeds were sown in August 2012. They are in 8.5 cm square pots.

Photo 1. Seed names of parents were Ariocarpus retusus cv trifingers but cacti did not show the character of trifingers.

3 astrophytum hybrids were in flower yesterday. One of them was an abnormal flower. This cactus made a normal flower several times in this season and so I am not sure the reason of the abnormal flower.

G'morning MrXeric,
Very odd! But very nice red stigmas.
Red stigmas are the evidence of true red flower.

G'day Tom,
#3 hybrid?
No it is a true asterias.

There was a professional cacti seeds supplier in Australia before.
I bought red flowering asterias seeds from him several times but it was hard to get true red flowering asterias.
I found several red flowering asterias geraminated from seeds which I bought in 2008. I believed the seeds came from Europe.

#3 is red flowering asterias x red flowering asterias and so the cactus is true asterias.
The flower is not red enough and I can not call it as red flowering asterias.
