Nice cactus and flower! Was the flower supposed to be this small though? How wide is the pot?

G'morning memememe,

Since I took the photo before the flower opened fully, the flower is looked small.

The pot is 12.5 cm square.

I could see many flowering buds but just one opened flower yesterday. The temperature was not high enough.
The maximum temperature was less than 20 C' in summer which was 1st experience for me.

Hi Frank!
The weather really unusual for this time of the year.
Same here, lots of flower buds not open, or only partial open.
Our temperature here always about 2°C to 3°C lower than yours.
Might be a bit warmer this weekend, then will be cold again.
According to the forecast, La Nina will be here for a bit longer.

Astrophytum myriostigma related species were in flower. Many of them were 2nd or 3rd flowerings in this season.

G'day memememe,
Is that a crested flower in the second pic?
No it is not. Strong spines of horizonthalnium just limit flower to open.

I could see a crested flower on an asterias before in my place.
The photo is attached for your information.
