Cactus Identification
As I said my mother visited my late Aunt in Phoenix,Arizona and got the cactus bug. She may have brought seed home or baby plant.

Looks to me like a Ferocactus. Maybe F.pilosus? . I'm sure someone will have a positive id for you.

Kind of looks like F.pilosus, but that species has distinctive cup-shaped flowers - could you get a close-up of the flowers?

This could be an Ferocactus hamatacanthus, even spines are little short. F. pilosus is quite different plant.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

A short-spined form of Ferocactus hamatacanthus looks pretty likely. Definitely an oddball.
