Rivers rocks for outdoor cacti garden
I'm currently using fairly large river rocks to cover the cacti soil mix in a small circular area(4 feet wide) where I currently have 7 different cacti growing. My question is are river rocks an option to cover the soil, or would anyone recommend smaller pebbles as a cover?

Those are good, but it would look more natural if you sprinkled some smaller pebbles among them - nature doesn't use uniformly-sized rocks. The smaller pebbles would also fill in the gaps and give more thorough coverage.

These are not very large, I use all sizes - from sand to small boulders or cannon balls.
Remember: one day you should be able to remove those to uproot the weeds or cacti.

If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
