Not my best picture since it was just a snatch shot on the staging today, but a Dolichothele longimamma I got from a friend who wanted to make space for Other Succulents, obviously he has no taste preferring those to cacti! I planted it in a normal height pot instead of a pan so as not to constrict the tuberous roots. Dolichothele is usually sunk into Mammillaria these days.
Not quite as large a species:-
Dolichothele baumii
Dolichothele surculosa
July 2017 Dolichothele.

Nice pick
I don't have any Dolichothele anymore
and I haven't seen any for sale in our area for years
maybe they are out there but I just looked past them

Probably out of fashion Craig. No point you nurserymen growing anything that does not sell when everybody is after the latest novelty. Just shows how old I am that I still grow them!
Re: July 2017 Dolichothele.
I'm sure I've seen both longimamma and baumii at the local B&Q, so at least some commercial nurseries must grow them. They may also grow surculosa, but it's less distinctive than the other two so I doubt I'd notice it if they did.
I did wonder what they were as they were semi-cryptic but looked like Mammilaria, I just never got around to looking them up!
