Prickly pear cactus may have a home on California farmland as a permanent crop that could produce fruit for up to 15 years.

That's a very interesting article! Here in Lebanon where the soil is too heavy or rocky to grow anything, olive trees are planted and then the land is surrouned with opuntia ficus indica. Plantings are of a very large scale and fruits are as expensive as 6 per dollar which means if you have a good piece of land you are in for some pure profit.
