~A glimpse into my cacti world~
Re: ~A glimpse into my cacti world~
Hello guys! I hope all of you are fine and your collections are thriving!
I have steadily been adding to my collection and I am pleased that many of my cacti bloomed for me this season. I have been careful on my watering schedule, placements, soil choices etc, and most of my plants are doing well. But, that is no surprise, as this is their season of growth. My space is already crammed, but I have the yard, side balconies and terrace, which I have every intention to expand, ha ha.
Let me show you some of results of my work to be a better grower and have a decent collection.

And some of my succulents. I have reduced the number of acquisitions of succs, as I am more cacti prone collectionwise, so I only get some I really like these days.

Hi, thank you Elie! I have added some slow growth cacti and most of them are on the smaller scale, but I hope to keep them alive and learn how to better care for all of them. I will show more of them in the next days!

Well I did have (actually more than) a glimpse Desert sun. You grow excellent plants indeed - and photograph them exceedingly well - congratulations!
Re: ~A glimpse into my cacti world~
Thank you very much James, such a great compliment coming from an experienced and well established cacti grower! I'm so pleased to have a feedback on my collection, it means a lot to me! I try my best to improve the conditions, placement, staging of my plants each day. It takes time and sweat, but it is incredibly rewarding to see them flourish under my care! I always try to learn more.
Here are some more pictures from my plants if anyone wants to take a look:

Some more of my plants. The sedum is doing so much better in its new, semi shaded position, as well as my aristata. I have managed to keep my Kalanchoe flowering for a second season, although for most people it is considered an one season plant, that gets thrown away after it stops its first flowering.

Thanks marina! On closer examination, yours is a bit different. Mine is a parodia s.s. not a notocactus
Love your aristata btw!

Your plants are just so lovely and flowers adorable! I'm jealous to you, I have no flowers at all.
What is this plant in picture DSCN5716? I just adore those flowers, they are so rustic and modest, not like normal bright colored flowers. Same goes for the one in picture DSCN5862.
About your schlumbergera, how many individual plants are in the soil? I have 8 cuttings growing in two different pots and I'm about to put some of them together as they have all started to grow. There is cuttings from two different plants. I want to have a pot as bushy as yours! How are the plants positioned in your pot? I'm not going to put all of the 8 together, but I'm not sure how many is enough to make a bushiest bush of schlumbergera cuttings. Thanks in advance!

Hello Pompom! You must mean the Gymnocalycium flowers. Yes, they are quite "romantic" looking, the light colored gymnocalycium flowers are always delightful! That schlumbergera has five cuttings. Of course, as time goes by they branch and look much more fuller. It took some time for her to show signs of her being well established I must say.
