My succulents - 4 of 4

Post by WayneByerly »

Two pictures of my Buddha's Temple. One from the top (I LOVE the way those stacked leaves look from the top) and one from the side to show (or attempt to show) some of the offsets this plant is producing). Anybody in the United States (the U.S. only ... I just am not willing to undergo the expense of Customs for foreign shipping) interested in an offset? I've got a couple i'm willing to give away.

My E. ammak is 20.5 & 24" tall. The taller was 17" tall when I first got it 3.4 years ago.

When I got this in July of 2013, it only took up about half, or maybe a little bit more, of a 6" pot. Now it's within an inch or so of the edges of a 16" pot.

I love them all Wayne! Beautiful! Never had any hens and chicks, very tempted to give it a try! Your Euphorbia is impressive and the Crassula Buddha's temple is such a unique shaped succulent!

Always a pleasure to look through your photos wayne! I absolutely love them. The sempervivums definitely caught my eye. They are native to the mountains here and only have purple edges :-k i've had one stay at my mountain house for 17 years under several feet of snow every year with 0 damage. However the stem rotted last spring and i had to root it in a pot and left it in there for better care.

Oh, slick! I can't imagine being able to go to the mountains and being able to pick up off of the Rocks the plants that I like. My Sempervivum are all purple right now from being outside all year long in the winters cold. I imagine that they will green up in the next couple of weeks because the weather here is abnormally warm for the time of year. I rather like the way the boss has grown in with them.

Correction: "I rather like the way the moss has grown in with them."

Hello. I recently joined the CactiForum and came upon your post regarding the Crassula Buddha's Temple and your photo of the Ponytail Palms in one pot.

Your Crassula looks really healthy. If you still are offering a Crassula Buddha's Temple pup, I would love to have one. I live in Upstate NY. I recently ordered a plant which arrived extremely dehydrated and died within days. See the photo below.

Also, my mother had a Ponytail Palm for many years. She gave it to me several years ago and I almost killed it. The stalk started to rot. In desperation, I cut it back and 5 stalks grew out of the caudex. The caudex now measures 11 inches across. I now call it a "Volcano Plant"! I should probably find a bigger pot for it. Below are photos.

I'm REALLY sorry to hear-about/see-about your dead Crassula. I know how I feel when one of my C & S dies.

Look at the following pictures, study what I'm offering as alternatives, and send me your mailing address along with your choice of alternatives. "Upstate New York" hardly qualifies as a place to send it. You can do that via a Private Message (PM) or I can post an email address here that you can use.

Well, what the heck... I'll just post it now:
you.bellowed.your.immenseness@gmail.com

I took the first picture below of the Crassula in front of the Beaucarnea recurvata just to give you another look at it.

In the following picture you can see the parent Crassula with dozens of pups growing all over it, with two dark green pups in the foreground and a lighter green pup on the right. The two in the foreground are there because I wanted two more specimens growing up next to the original parent... to grow a kind of a "Forest of Crassula". This is something that I have planned from the point that I first found out that it was developing pups and not dying. So those two are mine. I apologize for my greed! The lighter green pup on the right I took off of the parent just kind of recently... within the last oh, maybe 7-10 days or so. With the same idea of growing a forest. But I'd be willing to let go of that one if you would like to have it. Although you must understand that only having been in the ground maybe 10 days or so that it probably does not have any roots yet.

.
.

You can see how small the two little tiny pups in the following picture are by virtue of my hand being in it. They broke off when I took the lighter green pup (mentioned above) off of the parent. I have no idea whether or not they're big enough to grow roots, but I didn't want to just throw them away so I put them in some... Well I can't say dirt, because it's all grit... So I'll just say pot. I would also be willing to let go of these two. I will, however, say that they have not shriveled up in the last week or 10 days or so since I put them in the pot, so they may very well be growing roots.

.
.

So I've got a question for you, and I'll offer you several options. 1) Do you want to wait until I'm sure that any of these will grow roots (which MAY take several more weeks), or are you willing to accept either 2) the larger light green pup from the first picture or 3) the two little tiny pups in the second picture... with both 2 & 3 "just as they are... or as is" ... trusting that they'll grow roots in the future? OR, 4) would you like one of the larger rootless pups that is still on the parent? The pups are pretty good about growing roots. I've given away maybe 10 rooted specimens so far. Mostly to local people. You're the first that has actually responded to my posting asking if anybody wanted a pup.

So let me know what your choice of options is, and don't forget to send me your mailing address.

Welcome to The Forum by the way... I'm absolutely certain that you are really going to enjoy your stay here. The people here are just wonderful. I would say, from the number of yellow leaves on your B. recurvata, from the picture you posted, that yours could stand to have a little more water. And maybe be put in a pot about 2 inch wider on both sides. And maybe a little fertilizer would help also. Just thoughts based on personal experience with mine. Hope you don't mind my throwing in my two cents worth in!

You have a very unusual looking E.Ammak Wayne.
Most of them I have seen has got wavy spines, while your Ammak has pretty straight spines.

Hullo cactifan800

Yah, most of the E. Ammak's that I have seen have very wavy edges. I think that that is one of the reasons I like mine so much. Because it's so different. D'ya think its possibly because my watering regimen is different from those that you see all over the Internet are getting?

My apologies for how long it has taken me to respond to this.

I also like your Ammaks straight look, I plan on buying a ingens for that reason.
