A visit to a cacti garden in Indonesia

Post by kak tus »

I visited a cacti garden in Bogor, a short two-hour drive from the capital city, recently. For those who have visited the garden, I have omitted photos of appalling acts of vandalism on purpose to spare everyone else the horror. Nonetheless, it was quite an eye-opening experience for a newbie cactophile.

Awesome! When you say 'acts of vandalism', do you mean people carving graffiti into Opuntia pads? Or something worse?

So they do that too in Riyadh? Besides that, I suspect that visitors might have taken cuttings. There are no policing or cctv at all plus some of the cacti being sold locally by semi-professional sellers are of the same species as that on display. I hope that I'm wrong on this point but the opuntia pads speak for themselves.

Gorgeous garden
Thank you for sharing with us.

It does show the stubborn resilience of some cactus to take that kind of abuse and still seemingly thrive
