Growth Over Time - Echeveria lola

Post by WayneByerly »

Yet another "growth over time" topic. I depend on comments from members in order to determine whether or not anybody thinks that these are of the slightest interest. One of my thoughts when I first started this was to show other members, perhaps new collectors, what kind of growth a cactus or succulent made over a period of time ... instructional if you will ... so that people could see what kind of growth rates were nominal.

I picked up this Echeveria lola in 2013. Echeveria are not my favorite plants, but the pinkish/purplish highlights on the bottoms of the leaves are something that I find extraordinarily and piquantly appealing for some reason.

Its hard to see any growth from these pictures from 2014 to 2016 ... it's not until 2018 that you see how many rows of leaves that the rosette has added to its height.

2017 ... for some inexplicable reason, I just don't have a picture of it for this year.

2018
Look at all the rows of leaves in the rosette ... there are so many, and the rosette is SO heavy, that the BBQ skewers that I'm using for support are absolutely necessary.

I hope that someone found this of some interest or of some use.

Ahhhh... how satisfying to hear this. This is the exact reason, if not the only reason, that I do, this... thinking that I might provide a small piece of information that was previously unknown to someone here. If I am able to do this for just one person, then it is worth the time tha I expend on these posts.
