Today's photo is another rather common Mammillaria.
Given to me years ago by jnspire, it's a Mammillaria elongata!

Another apex shot: here's a Echinocereus rigidissimus ssp. rubispinus #5302.2 I got from Miles 2 years ago:

Thank you! IMHO it's interesting how the spines stick out more on the top and flatten out further down.

And for today, something a lot less spiny: here's a Astrophytum myriostigma! The blurry spot is a flower bud...but it's on winter rest, so, this bud probably will abort if it hasn't already.

Here's an Epithelantha bokei [JM/14] that was grown from a seed sown on Feb. 14th, 2015!

Thank you! It's slightly harder over here to order plants like these, that's why I get seeds....and wait a few (or more) years!

Anyways, today's picture is an Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus var. macdowellii that I sowed back in February 10th, 2012! Thy're noticeably smaller than my albiflorus

For today, here's a Stenocactus (Echinofossulocactus) phyllacanthus var. violaciflorus!
This is a areole near the apex of the plant:

I also happen to have the other species of Pelecyphora, though, very few sprouted and I'm down to one.
Here's that Pelecyphora aselliformis SB894 sown on March 18, 2015!

Love it! Keep those close ups coming! It feels like looking into another world. I suppose that's the view the mealybugs get when they show up, haha.

Thank you! The mealybugs in my world get a nice q-tip of alcohol in their sight... or systemic pesticide.

Anyways, to continue on - here's a Gymnocalycium schreiteri L439 showing its first spines! These are 3 weeks old, sown on Nov. 23, 2018:

I think those little 'bubbles' may actually be individual cells....
Also, don't worry, there's a lot of perlite in this mix, just that it has a small layer of organics to help seedlings along.

For today, an older Ariocarpus than a seedling - it's an Ariocarpus retusus aff. trigonus (unknown if 'true' trigonus as there are areoles near the tips.) This is a new tubercle poking through the 'wool'!

Here's one of my oldest seed grown plants, Ariocarpus retusus scapharostroides sown on Feb. 10th, 2012! It technically finally came out of the bag yesterday since it outgrew it (it was in a plastic container in a warm light box).
