Well, these are basically showing their mature features now, Also, kept in a humid container since I have a box that never goes below around 17 Celsius (and is artificially lit). In contrast, there is one corner of the box that I've been growing Ariocarpus retusus ssp. trigonus elongatus and they outgrew the pot in like 1 1/2 years (pictures eventually...though I do have to say I have yet to repot them...)

Which brings me to today's picture! A grafted Ariocarpus sp.! It can be one of two species, I sowed this one back in August. Grafted on Opuntia humifusa

Here's some grafting stock that will be used on a seedling at some point!
It's a slightly unusual growth on an Opuntia humifusa!

Yesterday and today I got a bunch of cacti on sale for $1 each! This is the only case I will buy a "lollipop" since I want to graft one on top of an Opuntia and see how it fairs.

Anyways, here's a picture of the only Lithops in my collection - a Lithops fulviceps C170 grown from seed from March 21, 2015!

Hope everyone is having a happy holidays!
Anyways, here's a Melocactus longispinus sown on Feb. 22nd, 2015 from seed I got when I visited Poot's in CA!

Edit: This is an odd one among a bunch of typical-spined ones (I'll take a picture of a typical tomorrow)

After a short break - we're back at it!
There's been a lot of semi-neglected plants on sale around here recently, so, I 'rescued' a few! Here's a Mammillaria sp.! (there's too many to name and I'm no expert in Mammillaria...)

Here's another out of the "one dollar plants": Mammillaria spinosissima subs. pilcayensis or similar?

Another Mammillaria in the collection: I think it's Mammillaria rhodantha? Nice golden spines either way!

Another plant from the discounted bunch I bought!
Not fully sure what it actually is as I usually specialize in the "living rock" bunch....

There was a bunch of "lollipops" (Gymnocalycium on Hylocereus) on sale, so I had to buy one for grafting practice! Anyways, I want to test how large I could let one grow on an Opuntia stock.

I found opuntia ficus indica to be an amazing stock. Quick growth on the lollipop cacti can cause them to look more elongated. Make sure to use a short stock

Noted! The only Opuntia that I have prepared as grafting stock is O. humifusa and I hear the elongated effect is reduced? Either way, this one has a bunch of pups, so, maybe I'll do a small-scale experiment (provided I get better at grafting in general)

On to the picture for today! Here's a different Opuntia - Opuntia microdasys var. albispina! This is a plant I don't really take care of and probably could use more care this spring... it is my oldest Opuntia in the collection though!

One plant that has been with me for a long time is this Echinopsis subdenudata that has given me very nice blooms throughout the years!
This is just the apex of the plant though, no blooms right now.

Here's a close-up of a Schlumbergera truncata showing the areole at the tip of a segment and some possibly vestigial spines!
