Hi Gang,

I wanted to let you know that the Opuntia Web has a new look and much new information. There are also many new photos. All of the cacti featured (about 90) are outdoor cacti in zone 7 or better. And many are hardy to zone 6. A few of the favorites are hardy to zone 5.

I just looked at the list of the 10 favorite Opuntia species and was surprised, that O. aciculate is not one of them. I believe, that this prickly pear species is outstanding, because of its beautifully and cleanly geometrically arranged medium brown glochids, which contrast nicely with the cladode color, and also because it does not have a yellow flower like most Opuntia spp. that I am aware of. I do admit though, that other yellow or yellow-red flowering prickly pear species do have larger blossoms and may be more floriferous.
