I just ordered a Senecio deflersii from Shoal Creek Succulents on Ebay. They labeled it Kleinia obesa. I got it because it's a fascinating plant that I've never actually seen for sale before. How hard are they to grow though?

I don't think any of the succulent Senecios are hard to grow. I was about to post the same link, beat me to it.

I have S. stapeliiformis. Their roots have rooted after a couple months of too much moisture (I overwatered them for a while and even now they haven’t dries out, drainage not too good). Their stems are not rotten though, and I hope I can save them.

I see why you’d want one Greenknight, they’re wonderfully bizarre.

They can be grown from cuttings, so if you've got un-rotted stems you should be able to save them.

Maybe common where the author of the article is, but perhaps not for most of us.
All it takes for one nursery in an area to produce a few thousand of something, and then they are common wherever that nursery supplies to, even if they are rare elsewhere.
