I’ve decided to make a thread. I’ll try and keep it updated. Little info I live in Southern California and mostly grow Mexican and columnar stuff

You have a very nice collection, indeed. All the plants look very healthy. Do you grow them in a soilless mix or is this the top dressing?
Also, can you tell me which Gymnocactus is in the last photo? It has very intense coloured flowers. And am I right to guess it is Glandulicactus uncinatus we see in a photo at 01/04?

Some random pictures. All the “blue ones” are getting to flower, all the fero gracilis are showing real nice growth. And my cholla growing a new head. I found this one on the side of the road in Arizona

Hello Vincent,
I agree with the previous posters: you certainly do have nice and healthy looking plants. That Gymnocactus with the deep pink flowers and the Turbinicarpus (first image) are my favorites thus far.
One question: How do you handle the cholla? Their spines attach easily to you and will not let go. I am using heavy duty leather gloves, but even those are not allowing effortless handling of that plant. I was thinking of perhaps purchasing "butcher gloves", those that do have some wire mesh. I also do have a long handled tongs to grab and hold onto some of the cacti and a fish hook remover (disgorger) for weeding near a cactus with ferocious spines.
