Help with crassula argentea gollum variegata props

Post by Catwrangler1983 »

Hello,
I'm new here I hope I posted to the right thread. After hours of research I finally found that the leaves that were given to me are known as crassula argentea gollum variegata. They are like the gollums but are more open, flat and wider than your normal gollum. They are also tipped with a red color. I place them in soil and they did produce roots but I still have yet to see anything else. They have been growing roots for over 4 weeks. Has anyone tried to propagate this type of gollum with just its leaves? If so, what do you do with them after they have grown roots? Thanks in advance

The Propagation forum would have been better, but it's not a big deal.

All you can do is wait, they'll either grow or they won't. I haven't grown this particular cultivar, but it makes no difference, it's the same as any other succulent leaf cutting. "Gollum" is said to be a little harder to grow from leaf cuttings than the standard Jade Plant, but it can be done. As long as there's life, there's hope, though usually you'd be seeing some growth by this time.

First, good job finding an ID for your leaves. I have grown gollum and e.t.'s fingers (which is very similar to gollum) from leaves and can confirm they grow very slowly. Here's a pic of what my e.t.'s fingers looked like after 6 months

I have grown a lot of succulents from leaves. It's very slow and I personally wouldn't worry if it's only been growing roots for a month. As long as the leaf is still alive and well taken care of it'll probably grow a stem/leaves eventually. This is something I need to remind myself sometimes...

Interestingly, my gollum leaf sprouted normal (not crested) growth, but my e.t.'s fingers seem to be producing crested growth
