I have grafted some seedlings on Schlumbergera stocks.
Interestingly, two of them decide to bloom.
The first is a Mammillaria (not sure which one) and the second is an Ancistrocactus megarhizus.
The Schlumbergeras that donated the stocks are in bloom now.
I wonder if the stocks are inducing the scions to flower...
Have you guys seen it before?
Weird thing here or Do the stock induces the scion to bloom?

I do not know the age of your scions.
I grafted a 1 month old Turbinicarpus laui seedling onto a Hylocereus stock and it was in flower 2 months later.
The scion grew well since grafted and it was larger than scions on your photo, I think.

Thank you Frank for replying. The scions are very young, little seedlings about one year old.
Here is a picture with a ruler for scale

Re: Weird thing here or Do the stock induces the scion to bloom?
Were the Schlumbergeras rooted and growing well before the graft or off a particularly vigorous specimen? I have to wonder because with how frequently Schlumbergera flowers with almost no effort may play a role. I've recently been experimenting with grafting seedlings to Schlumbergera and it has been challenging to say the least. Scions stick quite easily but maintaining humidity to prevent the seedlings from drying out without inducing rot on the Schlumbergera cutting has been the main challenge. The few that have made it are doing fine and plumping up, but showing little sign of growth for a couple of months now.

Indeed, I made about 40 grafts but only about 1/3 were successful. I have had the same challenges you described.

Thanks for the informaion of scion size.
It is possible 1 year old scion to be in flower but your mammillaria scion is very small.
I can not see tubercles on the scion yet.
Please put the photo on the forum when the flower opened.

Ok. The flower is stoped . I am not sure it will open. I don't think the scion has turbercles yet. It is a quite young seedling...thanks for your interest.
