I grab these whenever I see one. I love the symmetry, color and fast growth.

How about the ones in the background? Two other favorites for shape and spination.

It's stenocereus pruinosus. The ones in the back are ferocactus glaucescens and echinocactus grusonii

The frost is cuticle, a waxy covering that many cactus have. It's very visible on the front plant. It's very delicate, you can run it off with your finger. Other cactus (Ariocarpus) has a thick, hard cuticle. It's one of the adaptations to harsh weather.

Thanks. Now that I've looked into this genus I'm really interested in Stenocereus beneckei. That one is much harder to find.

There are so many sources. If you'd list your location in your profile, perhaps you can find a close source
