Is Cipocereus difficult to grow from seed?

Post by Shane »

Cipocereus minensis has always been in the back of my head as a plant I might want (those blue fruits look really cool). I found some cheap seed the other day and am tempted. Does anyone know if they're difficult? Pilosocereus isn't terribly difficult from what little I hear, so maybe Cipocereus isn't either?

I'm fairly sure they are straightforward from seed - the problem (for colder climate, greenhouse growers) is keeping them warm over winter.
I'd guess in your climate, they may need a little extra shelter / warmth during occasional cold spells, if it's needed at all.
