I was given 50ish seed pods of E. Grusonii so I’m germinating some properly and then I crushed and scattered some in an unused part of my yard. That was a few weeks back. It rained pretty decently last week (first good rain in 12 months. Actually it was more rain than the last 12 months combined).

Woww! Are you planning to protect them to avoid stepping on them?

They’re sort of in a corner between a large pine and the house. The most danger they’ll be in is being covered by leaves so I’ll blow them off every so often. Goals to do as little care as possible and see what lives.

that is exactly the way I am adding to the number of my cacti. I scatter seeds all over the ground within my cactus beds and let nature take its course. The only problem is, I do not have much space. So most of the seedling plants do end up as free gifts for visitors at my local cactus club.

Most plants grew faster than I could believe

The only problems are:
You need to water everytime they are dry, which could be daily
You will need light protection during the summer
They will be eaten by animals if not protected

Wow! These Eriosyce plants worth digging out and thinning or transferring into containers.

They were transferred and then sold.

What species are they?

most are Eriosyce, which I still call Neoporteria

Eriosyce senilis , black spines or white spines
Eriosyce villosa

The green ones are Echinopsis hybrids from Mt. Girl
