Lovely iceplant flowers! :) Iceplants ( or solblomster ( sunflowers) as they are called in Norwegian ) are sold as summerplants here in Norway. Summerplants meaning flowering plants grown outside for the summer and dying when the frost comes.

I have been entertaining the idea of trying to grow one indoors as an houseplant but I am not sure it would get enough sun to flower though.

Actually many of them (Delosperma sp.) are cold hardy up to about -20 C but die out here because of prolonged harsh colds of -30 or below.

Interesting :) I have never heard of anyone here who have had these as anything else than annuals. The autums are often pretry wet here, with long periods of rain , then frost and if we are unlucky ; barefrost. I guess that’s not ideal for any succulent plant.

Actually many people may have not tried to grow them as perennials. What most gardeners do here: buy potted plants in stores in the spring, dig wholes in their gardens and toss that nursery-grown plant into it and here we go: we are great and our garden is magnificent! They leave everything as it is in autumn and winter, most of the plants die because of being intended for different climatic zones but in next spring things continue the same way with the support of new material from garden centres. There is lot of hardy plants able to grow permanently in our zone but many people do not bother surching and planting exactly those ones.

That really sounds familiar..annuals are very popular here too ( or in many cases treated as annuals) .Personally I am not intersted in annuals, to me they are only bouquets with a bit longer life, than those in vases.

During the peak of our recent heat wave, these buds just sat there. This one started to bloom right after the cool down.

Hi everybody,
I do like this blooming thread. Here are some pictures of my Rebutia fabrisii. I got it two years ago in a 5cm-/2in-pot with two flowers. Today it is a gorgeous mess in a 20cm-8in-bowl.
