Repot Mammillaria with buds?

Post by yukomkom »

Hi guys, I've recently bought couple of new tiny cacti and going to repot all of them with complete replacement of soil. But one of them is Mammillaria with buds and I'm not sure how to deal with it. Should I repot it and hope that buds won't dry up and fall away or it's better to wait and give it a possibility to blossom and only after that repot? Image below.

Thanks in advance!

How bad is the mix it's growing in? If it's not too bad it wouldn't hurt to wait, but if it's very high in peat it would be safer to repot it right away.

Looks like Mammillaria carmenae "rubrispina". It's a species that blooms freely - though you might lose this year's flowers, next spring you'll probably get plenty.
