Also the fruit of Myrtillocactus are edible and sold as Garambulos on markets in Mexico, the core of some Ferocactus are made into candies, and many fruits of Mammillaria are edible, also Echinocereus fruits(all taste like strawberries) also Hylocereus fruits (Dragon Fruit) are common nowadays although the taste is unusual?! :? Many opuntia fruits are seen in markets as fruit;
As for ceremonial uses by native tribes-people Mammillaria Grahamii (?!) was roasted and the spines removed and the juices squeezed into the ear of the local shaman (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME folks!) to see the inner demons of the sick people. :sad4:
Also many an unwary person has fell into a trance or coma from alkaloid poisoning from many cacti including a person who ate Epithelantha Species and then jumped from a cliff!!!!
Peyotl and many species of cacti contain Mescaline, Pellotine, Analhodanine, Tyramine etc
All of which have many medical uses including treatments for Diabetes, Cancer, Blood Pressure, even Heart Failure...But many if eaten can induce sickness, nausea, coma or even Death!!
Do not mess with what you don't understand fully! :dontknow:

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF CACTI!!

The Doors of Perception is a philosophical essay, released as a book, by Aldous Huxley. First published in 1954, it details his experiences when taking mescaline.
