Echinopsis candicans pups

Bought this cactus in Arizona on vacation this year. 8 pups have grown on the bottom just recently. Is it best to remove these and let the main trunk grow? The main trunk of the cactus has also changed shape in the middle slightly....

Attached is the cactus when we bought it in January and the cactus now.... is this change in shape normal?

The constriction is a halt or slowdown in growth. Can have a few different causes, even repotting until the roots get going again.

Personally unless I want to propagate more plants I do not remove pups since that is natural growth because the species forms a clump in nature.

If you want a tall growing largely unbranched Cerei when young it is best to pick that type or species at the outset rather than try and turn a naturally clumping species into one.
