So how did the windy weather affect your cactus location? We're getting rain and snow this weekend so I put blue tarps over my outdoor native cacti. They do okay in the cold but too much rain...yeow! Some can't take it.

Hi Steve-0, blew two pots over but none of my trees went down. Power went out for a couple days again, this is SCE's way to prevent fires and prevent getting sued . lame.
it was windy hard to walk around so I make it 60 MPH plus . I also put Plastic over my cactus and its raining now. I have succulents in the ground they like the rain .

Hi Steve O
So far ok. This morning the greenhouse was 38F. I forgot to plug in the heater. Fortunately the Melo's look no worse for wear.
It rained off and on all day yesterday, Monday in Indio. I did not realize it was going to get this cold last night. It appears all my exterior plants survived the rain and then the cold.
The Greenhouse is currently 85F. And it seems everything is blooming or growing.
Heater will be running tonight.

Mammillaria Humboltii large stemmed form AKA xlio form. That's what it was called when I bought it from plantseca on Ebay

M. carmenae a nice clump from a decapitation many years ago. M. roseocentra also a decapitation many many years ago.

Winter flowers I suppose this is to help the plant conserve water to flower when the air is cool . Roseocentra is also know as magallanii .

Windy and sunny today about 65F I guess ? Night goes to 50F ?

Nice! When you say 'decapitation'....was that top surgery to save the plant? ...or something else?

Hi Steve-0 Rats ate the top off . The roseocentra was from seed sown in 1993 and I lived in a rat infested Condo neighborhood with small yard and dog owner neighbors who left dog food out . One of them was a real Idiot others just careless. Eventually it became so bad the HOA started trapping. Neighbors were " wow rats ate the bottom out of the plastic container that I had 100 lbs of dog food in," " wow they caught 10 rats in my garage" stuff like that.

That's why I now have self contained, enclosed movable cactus benches. And a Single family home away from dense condo living. Still get rats and I still trap them but not infestation like before.

Hi keith
Out of curiosity, where do you live that has rat infestations. When I lived in Beverly Hills, we did have rats and mice since we lived in the hills. Easily controlled with bait traps. i never had any issues with cactus being eaten and I could hear the rats scurry around my decks early in the mornings. But nothing like it sounds you have.
