If you ignore the cow manure you can spot more than 10 E. vivipara...

Are you thinking about the cow manure or the cacti? ( going barefoot) The first wouldn’t bother me but the spines... stepping on something like that much be very painful.. :o

I grew up on a farm, I wouldn't worry about stepping in the cow manure - except there might be more cacti under the cow manure.

Well, we usually have our shoes on going outdoors. Spines were ambushing us on the "parking lot" already... 8)

Hm..I guess barefoot hiking isn’t very popular or practical in cacti populated areas :P

Because of the massive bloom on June 9, I was able to see hundreds of Escobaria vivipara near Drumheller.
