Baggy method: Does the size of the bag matter?

Post by Mas_ »

I have recently got my hand on some more cactus seeds and wanted to give them the best chance at germination. I always sow my seeds using the baggy method but recently have gotten to think about if the size of the Ziploc bag you put the pot in affects the germination outcome. I have noticed an increase in germination when I put my seed pots in bigger bags (double the size of the pot), as opposed to when I put them in smaller bags. However there could have been other factors involved and I can't put it solely down to bag size but I do wonder if it made a difference? Perhaps the bigger the bag, the more humidity?

Maybe. Also more air is available to seeds and seedlings so it will be no need to open it more often and break the sterility.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
°C = (°F - 32)/1.8
