Looking for barrel or ball cacti recommendations

Post by gregc63 »

Hi all, I’ve created an outdoor cacti garden recently and have begun populating it here in southern texas. Im trying to find a nice compact cactus similar to a golden barrel, except with pink flowers. I love Golden barrel cacti, but my wife would really love if I included pink flowers into this garden. Thanks ahead of time!

Look at different Echinopsis. Hybrids too. Many different flower sizes and color.

Some Ferocactus have purple flowers, if that's close enough
Los Angeles, California (USA)
Zone 10b (yearly minimum temperature 1-5° C)

Fishhook cacti are like cats, they only like to be petted in one direction

Native to Southern Texas...with pink flowers . Echinocactus horizonthalonius...the common names are Turk's head or maybe Eagle claw. Mine came from Sierra Blanca, TX. Best of luck with your outdoor cactus garden.
