Pereskiopsis leaf retention

Post by amidatti »

I’d like to improve leaf retention on my pereskiopsis to benefit nourishment to the scions. Typically 80% of leaves fall off before or after grafting. Nearly all the pereskiopsis I order online come with broad, waxy leaves that are fat with water. But the conditions that I propagate them in (western window exposure, plenty of water) cause their new leaves to come in long and thin, and are easily burned by direct sun. I’m getting some vinyl window fog to prevent sun burning, but I’m wondering what sort of conditions lead to the most resilient and productive leaves.
