2 other new additions . A very nice Astrophytum Hybrid. This is a 6" pot and a Echinocactus Horizonthalonius or Eagles Claw. The Nursery had 12 of these. All were in a state of rooting. This was the healthiest looking of all of them. It did have a few 1" long roots forming.

I also decided I needed a new potting bench. The old one was just a junk collector.

I have 2 Stenocereus Eruca. This is my older one that I got a year ago as a cutting. Its been really active. I'm waiting for a new arm to form so I can root that in a horizontal position. Or, this one may fall over as it grows.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Mike, the plants near your VFT are looking really great. New growth on all.
We just saw a few days with temps in the low 20'sF at night. Very unusual for us. Should be rainy and in the high 60's tomorrow.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
I am shocked that the HOA allowed the old potting bench to exist!

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Never heard of HOA before so I got curious and looked it up. Don’t mean to offend anyone but now I think I know why all frontyards and gardens one sees on TV form the US look so dull and uniform.. If I didn’t misunderstood the info I read, if you buy a property in a HOA community, you pretty much have to follow their ‘laws’? So you can’t decide for your self what your garden should be like and what to grow in it?

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Mrs. Green: I once rototilled my entire front yard one summer and grew three crops of Buckwheat to kill off the weeds. Planted grass in August and cut it three times by the end of October. One person stopped me to say how he thought I was crazy during the summer, but now saw I was not. Would not be allowed if there was a HOA!!
Mike: I saw the cuttings next to your VFT-Venus Fly Trap. Nice growth. Glad for you. My VFT are still in their winter growth state. Really no new growth yet. They are out in full sun and out even down to high 20's at night, which is close to their minimum. I brought them in when it went down to low 20's last week.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Home Owners Associations can be both a blessing and a curse. If one wants continuity and a nice looking community HOA's are good as long as they enforce the regulations. Lawns or landscaping that is nice to look at. Houses painted similar colors so nothing looks garash. Nobody owning 5 or 6 cars and parking them on the lawn and on the streets. Since many people now have the attitude of I don't care, it's all about what I want, a little control is nice. Some HOA's are way to strict. In one retirement community here, if your leave your garage door open for more than 5 minutes you get fined.
Please understand, I'm not the biggest fan of our HOA. I went around them to get approval for the greenhouse. I went straight to the Dept of Building and Safety. Yes it does curb individualism, but it prevents disastrous looking projects. There are still enough area's one can live with no restrictions.
