My GreenHouse Build.
Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Good evening Mike,
it is certainly more pleasant for the plants if they are watered in the late evening.
Our plants are all CAM plants, if it is too warm at night (and also during the day) they stop metabolism.
The evaporative cooling simulates serious cooling and allows normal CAM metabolism and water uptake accordingly.
Maybe my little suggestion can be somewhat helpful - I hope so.
Best wishes K.W.

absolutely K.W. That was the same suggestion from one of my acquaintances in 29 palms and it appears to be working..

Thanks Jerry... I'll explore it for later use. The suggestion of soap came from 2 guys that are heavy into the Trich Clone community and big growers. Their soil conditions are similar to mine being in the Yucca Valley. 10 degrees cooler but still hot and dry,

Final Set.
Lets talk shade cloth.. The 60% cloth that covers the greenhouse and its surrounding area has been perfect to protect the plants when its 119°f yet it still allows enough light through so no Etiolation is happening . On the other hand the Shade Sail on the house side in around 85% and though no Etiolation has taken place, but growth is slowing down. I see it most in the large collection of Trich's. I'm expecting a few more weeks of very intense sun so I can not remove it. I'm going to replace it with a custom Sized 50% Shade cloth in a ASAPMike The Cactus Guy

Awesome collection Mike! I could probably spend the better part of the day just walking through your backyard and looking at each plant. There's a lot that catches my eye, but I find the large Mammillaria karwinskiana clump particularly impressive.
Re: My GreenHouse Build.
I noticed some Echinofossulocacti (Stenocacti). Are those E. pentacanthus?
You basically have a cactus garden. Maybe a setup with some rocks in the future?

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
The front yard is going to become the cactus garden. I added these 2 babies in july to the collection
I was sitting out yesterday evening inventorying the collection figuring out which ones will be moved to the front of the house and planted in the ground.
I bought them at my Indio Home Depot after the purchasing manager made me a deal I could not pass up. $200 each.I was sitting out yesterday evening inventorying the collection figuring out which ones will be moved to the front of the house and planted in the ground.

Soap works but some plants could be sensitive to it. Check first.mikethecactusguy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 11:17 pm Thanks Jerry... I'll explore it for later use. Keith. I figure the 2 are at least 40 yrs old if not older. Who ever the grower is, they have a huge supply of plants this size. My guy in Desert Hot Springs has 4 on his grounds right now. He claims that they have been cultivating them for years. They just brought them up from the main nursery in Fallbrook Ca. Just north of San Diego.
