How to save Tavaresia?

Post by A1essandro »

Hi all.

I got this plant a few days ago. As I know it's a Tavaresia.

Could you please advise me how to save this plant? What happened with this?

Did it arrive by mail ? I guess it would be really cold already. I read they are sensative to cold temperatures. Can you give us some more information on what preceded it ? Did you water it, repot it etc. Either way there's a chance some offsets might still survive, or you could cut a green one off and let it root to be on the safe side.

Thank you for answer!

One cacti grower gave me this plant. I don't know how she was caring but plant already been this colour. When I was transporting plant home it was about -10 Celsius for a few minutes.

I see. Is anything else going on with it beside the colouring ? Shriveling parts, mushy parts ? The brown parts do look a bit dead, but I'm not sure if they are. Either way, as it's a big clump, I'd take off an offset and start over to be safe ;) Cut with a disinfected sharp knife, make sure the meat is all green and fresh, let it dry for a week, and put it in a new pot, best supported.

I guess it could also be caused by nutrition deficiency, any idea how the previous owner was keeping it ?

I only know that was not enough light (reason why she gave me her plants).

Thanks a lot. I will cut it today or tomorrow.
