Covering buds to slow flower development

Post by hiawog »

I saw this picture on Instagram and found it interesting. The caption appeared to explain that the grower wanted this group of plants to flower simultaneously so he was using the cups to intentionally slow the growth of the fastest-maturing flowers.

I'd never seen this before so I thought I'd share in case others find the idea useful.

The drainage holes look messy, have they glued something inside to completely block the light? Or are they just dirty old pots?

I've done something similar with good results, I just move the pot to a shadier area of the gh to slow the development of the buds
