Hello Gabriel,
that is a nice Turbinicarpus viereckii. I do like the ones, which produce pink flowers. :)
So I went ahead and added it to my "Turbinicarpus spp. wish list".
The last image you state is a "pitahaya". Is that also an Epiphyllum sp.? What is the flower color and does it produce edible fruit?
I do have a large cactus, which does produce a lot of aereal roots and has become quite lanky. It has never flowered and I am starting to have a slight problem to bring the plant indoors over the winter months. My plant may perhaps be the kind which does produce what is commonly called "dragon fruit". Would those also be called "pitahaya" in Mexico?

hi Harald

I placed the pitahaya near a tree so that it could climb

It is the first year that it will give flowers I still do not know the color but I suspect it is white

I have another that I have not let grow and the flower is red, as soon as the fruit appears
I'll put a photo

yes.... the pitahaya is the dragon fruit, although here we all call it pitahaya ... the fruit is somewhat expensive in the market

Hello Gabriel,
thank you for answering my question. I am aware, that different cactus fruits are called "pitahaya" in Mexico. I forgot, which cactus does produce those huge "dragon fruit", but the plant looks similar to an Epiphyllum.
If you can get hold of them, I would advise you to obtain a few Echinocereus stramineus and Echinocereus enneacanthus plants. I have even both the dragon fruit and the pitahaya from E. enneacanthus and in my opinion, the latter does taste quite a bit better, i.e. it is not as bland as the dragon truit. Both, the E. stramineus and E. enneacanthus do have a very strong strawberry aroma! The pretty pink flowers are also of a good size.

hello Harald

the scientific name of the plant is ...... Hylocereus undatus ...

You have given me a great idea to acquire those echinocereus ... I have a small collection of echinocereus for its beautiful flowers ... now look for its fruits ...

Hi Mike

In Mexico City we have almost 30 degrees, soon the rainy season will arrive, which is well needed and the blooms will drop a little
