I use sand paper on big tough to sprout seeds. Other cactus seeds a little hydrogen peroxide then water rinse. I've had good luck with Mexican cactus seeds outside in heat and lithops inside on a window sill. I try and get the little plants outside as soon as I can because that where they will live with temperature swings etc.
