Has anyone bought from this supplier, are they responsible harvesters? How can I tell? https://www.cactusalvaralto.com/en/

Hi Paul.

I visited their nursery on my 2015 Chile trip as they were friends of Roger Ferryman. At that time it was run by Ingrid Schaub and Ricardo Keim, but now alas just run by Ingrid as Ricardo was tragically killed crossing one of Chile's hazardous roads a year or so later. Not sure if Ingrid still deals with the seeds herself but she either collects it or produces from her own originally collected plants . Somebody did deal with the packing and posting for her just after Ricardo died, but I do not know if Ingrid is now doing it again..

As far as I am aware Ingrid is a responsible harvester, and unlike Mexico I don't think Chile has a ban on seed exports.

On Page 42 of this link they describe two new species of Copiapoa described by them.

They also described Eriosyce napina subs. challensis which looks more like an Epithelantha than the other Thelocephala's.

As well as a couple of other Eriocyce (Thelocephala's) plus Austrocactus colloncurensis
