Curious what you're doing with all that perlite if you care to share

You're buying a product that's extremely cheap if purchased in bulk. When buying it retail, you're paying mainly for packaging costs and retail overhead - the contents of the bag are worth only a few cents, whether it's a large or small bag.

This guy found out he had an extra room in his cellar that was filled with sand and he was giving it away so I took it. I thought it would be good for cactus but it doesn't drain well.
I was going to mention this on another thread but I might as well say here:
I planted a O. phaecantha pad in the sand in a container and the bottom part of the pad in the sand rotted out. But the back of the pad sprouted roots into the sand. They sure are survivors- and this was over one or two winters.
