I bought a 3 plant pot 2 months ago at HD that appeared to have 3 Pachycereus pringleite in it. . As this has grown it looks like its something else.
Help please.
Thank you
the plants in the background is Pachycereus pringleite on the left and an over watered Saguaro on the right

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but no pro here.
It can be hard to distinguish between the two at times based on where they are in their life cycles. From my observation, the small cactus on the right back in photo one looks to be a saguaro. Since I believe Altman plants is a big supplier of HD's cactus plants and operate with rather distinct and basic cactus plants, I find it hard to believe they would mix a true saguaro into what should have been a pachycereus pringlei pot as they are know to do trios of those. Earlier members have said that pachy's often have a bluer tone to them, whereas the saguaro spines to me have always looked somewhat thinner and refined, less woody, whiter, and have the smaller ones as a juvenile being quite thin and pointing almost completely horizontal. I just bought what I think is a saguaro yesterday, so I will post it here for others to chime in on. It was labeled as such, but I also found other mislabeled saguaros at the nursery. Hope that helps. The overwatered one to me looks more pringlei in stature comparatively, but that is my take.

Re: Help Please. Anyone?
This is about a 9-11" "saguaro" I bought yesterday. I am rather confident it is a saguaro, but would appreciate the opinion of some others. Haven't had time to figure out the photo link process yet, sorry about that! Thanks!
