Cactus rotting? Help?

Post by blake »

Hello,

Please see the photos attached. Located in Iowa. During the summer we leave our cactus outside and bring it in for most rains, and the pot has drainage. It's growing very fast, but I noticed it has brown at it's base. Should i be concerned, and if so what can I do?

Any advice helps! Thank you so much!

Is the brown part soft or firm? Rot would be soft, if it's firm it's most likely just normal corking. It looks more like corking to me.
