Maihueniopsis darwinii

I have two joints of Maihueniopsis darwinii that I just noticed tonight broken off of my plant. The largest is about 1 1/4" long, the smaller is about 3/4" long. They are both free to one person in the US that pays me for the postage. I won't be able to ship till after September 20. PM me if interested. First come, first served. The photo was taken tonight and is enlarged.

I got this plant from one of the Spring Shows and Plant Sales held by the Connecticut Cactus and Succulent Society. I do not remember who I bought it from, but I've had it for at least 10 years.

Beautiful flower Dave. Do you remember when it bloomed? Does it bloom yearly for you?

It flowered June or July in the UK Jerry. I think it did bloom last year, but some of this group can be intermittent flowerers for me.

I sent this material via our USPS in a Flat Rate Box. I sent it 9/9 and it just arrived today. Pretty bad in my opinion. I'm waiting to hear about the condition of the joints. At least they are calloused!

Thanks Dave. I gave it better care this year than I have in many. Maybe I'll be rewarded next season with blooms.

I just moved my plant and broke off a really nice top section. Much bigger than the two I offered above. I know those have rooted and grown well. I actually stabbed an Echinocereus and it broke off. And I am being lazy and not taking a photo. If you really want a photo, let me know. I'm going to say the joint is maybe 3/4" in diameter which is bigger than the two I offered above.

If anyone wants this broken off piece, its yours free if you pay the postage. Last time I sent them in a USPS Flat Rate small box. If you have other suggestions, I'm retired now and have time to putter and try to get you a better rate. Or, if you are local and want to pick it up in person, that is fine. Either reply here or PM.

The M. darwinii is on the way along with the Mamm. gracilis and seeds of Parodia mammulosa ssp. submammulosa. If I had more I'd have filled the box. No sense sending you air.

Here is the Parodia blooming on June 20 of this year. That is a four inch diameter pot.
