Mammillaria and Oroya?

Post by Download »

I see the forum has risen from the grave.

These are four separate plants that I decided were too difficult to split apart (well, I split one off before deciding that was enough). The thorns are very sharp and hook-like, and easily hook in skin and to each other. This is a 70mm (3" or so) pot so quite small.

Same size pot. The areole are what make me think Oroya, but I know there are other species like that.

Resurrected indeed. :) Faster and stronger.

1. Mammillaria thornberi ssp. yaquensis
2. Matucana aureiflora most likely.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

Cheers

I guess I have to wait on the Matucana to grow a bit.

Sure, I've got the first flower at mine after it reached ~ 5 cm in diameter.
