This is a well known spot famous for its annual religious pilgrimage and the short but steep hiking trail. The upper level is in pre-montane forest which is seasonally dry. The cacti are in sheltered spots, probably to resist excessive drying from the winds. I found Epiphyllum (probably costarisense), Weberocereus glaber, Selenicereus testudo, and Rhipsalis bacciffera. The Agave seemanianna does very well here.

Do you take cuttings from the wild or is it strictly prohibited?

Cuttings can best be had on private property once you introduce yourself and explain what you are doing. Their radar is out for housebreakers. squatters, and cattle rustlers; once they see what you are doing they are glad to help. Road easements are another good area for whatever survives people, cattle, and road crews. Orchids are protected by law but not of interest to me becasue there are too many species.

Import/export are a different thing. Too much paperwork to justify the effort.
