revised my inside growing setup

Post by billgo2 »

I posted last year on trying to set up a place to always grow inside. I received quite a few helpful suggestions. I did not feel that I had the right lights, so I changed out my Mars Hydro FC-E3000s for FC-E6500. Basically, this took me from 2'x2' to4'x4'. Since my table is 4'x12', the 3 lamps completely cover my entire grow area. Plus, the new lamp has 3546 diodes. Using my LUX meter, I can change from a low 20K dormant setting to as much as 64K (available) using the controls only, no moving plants or moving lamps. Having 3 lamps, I can change to match plant heights. The dehumidifier is in picture 0970. I am looking forward to the summer grow cycle.

Hi billgo,

Nice set-up. I hope you get good results.
I have several questions. Where are you actually situated? Wouldn't you prefer to have your cacti in a more 'natural' setting? This is not a critique in any way and I'm asking just out of curiosity.
How does your drainage work?
Thanks.

Atlanta, per my signature.
This is a natural setting for me.
The floor is concrete.

Curious, is that your garage? No more space for your car...

Ah, my apologies, when you're replying the signature doesn't show apparently. You have drainage in the floor then? For some reason I thought you had a garden. Is your garage heated? How cold does it get in winter? You have already have cacti which are in bud?

No, this is a storage room in my house. My garage is not cluttered like this.

I found the following diagram (about light and cacti) in a book by W. Haage:

Translation:
in het cactusvaderland = in habitat
in onze zomer = our summer
in onze winter = our winter
donker = dark
(zeer helder) licht = (very bright) light
nacht = night
kunstmatige verduistering = artificial darkness
extra verlichting = extra lighting
tijd = time
