Gymnocalycium?

Post by Cactimaniac »

Hello
This is my first i believe Gymnocalycium bought at random store. I usually buy my cactus online but I could not resist this one with flower buds.

The label said only Cactus but I think it is Gymnocalycium Baldinanum, maybe Gymnocalycium Andreae?

Grateful for any Suggetion.

Change the soil mix. It looks heavy on organic material, probably peat moss.

I never saw such a vertically oriented Gymno and it looks like it's budding. Perhaps wait until it has flowered for an id? Flowers are usually a big help. I agree with Aeonium about the soil, BUT I think you can't repot a cactus when it's budding. Perhaps other members can shine their light on this...

Hi
Thanks for comment on the soil.

My usuall soil i use is 90-100 % mineral, lava rocks and pumice. I think i will wait till flowering is over and then repot in my standard mix.

I will post a picture when its flowering.

Here is a Photo of my different Peruvianus from seed.
