Mammillaria humboldtii seeds

Post by RichR »

Does anyone grow Mammillaria humboldtii? I have pollinated dozens of its flowers and am wondering when the fruits will appear. Someone told me you have to dig the seeds out. I'm not sure what that means.

Thanks, Keith. Do you remember how long it is from pollination to fruit?

One year. They have fruits like M. herrerea and M. carmenae the seed pods ripen under the spines I pull them out after a year any longer and the seed capsules can break apart and then it really hard to collect the seeds.

They all usually take awhile to germinate wet dry wet again . I trying some right now actually from my own plants. Never had much luck with them germinating for some reason ?
