Impossible task at hand

Post by abhikjha »

This is pretty impossible but will give it a shot anyway.

Recently one of my Pseudolithos cubiformis which actually was one of my favourite as well got rotten. For few mins, I was shocked and stunned but I guess this is part and parcel of growing them. Though my conditions are nearly similar to their habitat (Somalia is on the other side of Arabian sea where I live in India), they just die without any frigging reason.

Here are some of the pics. I don't have anything to graft it upon so I have decided to re root it. Let's see if get any success. Will share the progress here in next few weeks.

Here is what I have done so far:

1. Cleaned the rotten part with water.
2. Put the cleaned remaining plant into H2O2 mixed water for 5-10 mins
3. Cleaned again with fresh running water.
4. Let it dry for few mins
5. Applied rooting hormone
6. Applied mancozeb fungicide

I will keep it like this for atleast 7-10 days under fan and away from direct sunlight. Then plan is to put it on 100% pumice. Big question is when to give light watering? After few days of potting or once I see some roots. They are from hot and humid climate, so I guess besides air humidity, a bit of water in the soil will prompt the roots to come out. Any views?
