Two need identities

Post by fanaticactus »

I'm back being able to post photos. We found a new, super-whiz IT person who tweaked our computers and showed me the way to circumvent the problem I had importing photos to Picasa. Here are two which I think are fairly easy, but I want to be sure before I assign genus/species to each one. The first one (no flower) did have a flower a few days ago but we hadn't been 'fixed' yet. Its flower appeared on the side--not exactly on the crown but not at the base either--and was a medium orange, about an inch across. I'm thinking it might be a Gymno but I couldn't find any pictures or descriptions that matched exactly. The second one has had the same flower for over a week and originally was a bit deeper orange color. My instincts tell me Parodia, but I'm not sure.

I think anttisepp is correct. Matucana has less spines

I finally was able to track it down and I agree it's a better match. However, the accepted species name appears to have been changed now to comarapana. Thanks again!
