Rain or tap water

Post by Holunder »

Dear Cactophiles,
I have the choice to use rainwater or tap water. The rainwater is collected from my roof, which enriches it with dust, moss and algae. The local tap water is not very calcareous and does not contain chloride. What water would you recommend to my adult cacti or young seedlings? Normally I would prefer rainwater, but I'm a little hesitant because of the algae. If you use rainwater, do you use a filter to reduce algae growth?

I use rain water. Leaves fall in it and soak there, and algae grows in it, it turns brown - free fertilizer. Algae is harmless, don't worry about it.
